IIMSAM’s official hails Her Majesty Queen Rania for “Ahel Al Himmeh” initiative

Doha (March 23, 2009): The Middle East Director and Goodwill Ambassador of the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), a Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud has lauded Her Majesty Queen Rania Al- Abdullah for encouraging youths towards the community services by constituting the prestigious award, “Ahel El Himmeh”

In his press statement issued to the media today, Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud said that Her Majesty the Queen Rania’s efforts have revolutionized the society. He said that Jordan is truly proud to have such a dynamic and vibrant personality and her every such action has added golden words in the history of Jordan.

In the statement, he further said that Her Majesty the Queen Rania is all set to bring renaissance in Arab world and she has stepped up to achieve this objective.

He said that the criterions to be awarded with “Ahel El Himmeh” have covered all spheres of lives and the event may be called as an apparent tool to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goal in the Jordan.

Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud, in his statement, said that this novel idea is an attempt of Her Majesty to ensure public participation in her community services.

As part of her efforts to motivate the country’s youth towards the social and community services, Her Majesty the Queen Rania has constituted the award to explore the hidden forces of the country and by giving them their due recognitions.

The queen has constituted this honour to mark the 10^th anniversaryofherhusband,HisMajestyKingAbdullahII’sformal accession to the Hashemite throne.

“Ahel Al Himmeh” is a national initiative to recognize the outstanding services and diligent efforts of those Jordanian real heroes who could create positive and lasting changes in their communities.

The talents will be chosen by the support of general masses as every national fulfilling certain requirements can participate in the selection process by nominating his/ her choice in the arena they wished to. Consequently, champions will be the preferred choice of the Jordanian communities living in Jordan and abroad.

Any person can nominate his/her heroes through filling a nomination form which has been made available at post offices and through online browsing the “Ahel Al Himmeh” website

The selection of the heroes will be done on the basis of their services in the arena of education, health, youth leadership, arts & culture, women empowerment, sustainable development, peace and Inter- cultural dialogue, child development protection and sports.

The event will end with an award presentation ceremony in June 2009.

All nominations willgothroughdailyscreenings,afterwards, a specialist selection panel comprised of independent experts and celebrities will select 30 finalists. Among these 30 finalists, general masses will be asked to vote free of cost to choose 10 final winners.

The award carries cash prizes of JD30, 000 and certificates for their outstanding efforts in the concerned arena. Besides, 10scholarshipswill be namedaftereachhero. Heroeswillbe felicitated in a glittering ceremony.

A media campaign through dailies, radio and television channels are on to get the peoples acquainted with the event.
